Art Is Alive

28th June 2011

The first of the Alive Church Art LifeGroup meetings was held on Monday evening. The group hosted by Jess Talbot was attended by a wide range of people with a general interest in art. While the group is focussed on art it is not a group limited to artists.

The first evening was a fun time of discovery as the group were encouraged to undertake a task of faith by painting in colours of their own choice a small square of paper to a set pattern that didn’t appear to have much meaning at the time. After a time of studying scripture, and discussing the link between obedience and the love that God has for each of us, the groups combined painting efforts were brought together to reveal an image of Jesus on the cross.
It was powerful to realise while we were all given a small task to do, that the significance of undertaking the task according to the instructions, actually resulted in a much bigger picture. A great analogy for each to realise that sometimes we don’t understand why we need to obey God, but that obedience can result in a much wider impact than what we can see!

This was a great evening and we are looking forward to next Monday. If you would like to come along please feel free to make contact with Jess Talbot on 021 258 9319.
